Construction of drainage and safety improvements along the north side of <br /> Kaumana Drive between Chong Street and Alahelenui Street at an estimated cost <br /> of $1,500,000. <br /> 2. Continued support for the Saddle Road Project which will provide an improved <br /> highway linkage between East and West Hawaii. <br /> 3. Funding for the construction of the Puainako Extension Project between <br /> Komohana Street and Country Club Road at an estimated cost of $3,850,000 <br /> which shall be used to match Federal Highway Funds. <br /> 4. A business incubation center for University Park of which $700,000 will be <br /> funded from the State and $2.8 million in matching funds will come from the <br /> Federal Government. <br /> This section of Kaumana Drive's lack of coverage for the open drainage ditch closely <br /> <br /> paralleling the drive, absence of pedestrian and bike pathways, and nonexistent shoulder <br /> and recovery areas for automobiles underscore the urgency and importance of addressing <br /> <br /> these public safety needs for the growing communities in this area as well as for all others <br /> who use this drive. <br /> The Saddle Road Project to establish a major high standard link between East and West <br /> Hawaii and the Puainako Extension Project to complete this East-West link are already <br /> well-established as critical priorities that would greatly move our county's economic <br /> Comte.
