cpp;�tYfoF p 11; , COUNTY OF HAWAII (4 '1 STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 239 17 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO UPDATE THE MALAMA HONUA WORLDWIDE VOYAGE INTERPRETIVE DISPLAYS AT THE RICHARDSON OCEAN CENTER. WHEREAS, members of the Polynesian Voyaging Society sailed the double-hulled voyaging canoe Hokule`a around the world in a historic three-year voyage, called the Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage, to support the movement toward a more sustainable planet; and WHEREAS, Hikianalia is the sister canoe to Hokule`a and was designed specifically for the Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage; and WHEREAS, the crew members of the Hokulea and Hikianalia are continuing the voyage by calling at 30 ports throughout the Hawaiian Islands during the next eight months to share their knowledge with communities and students; and WHEREAS, the Richardson Ocean Center, located at Richardson Ocean Park, is one of the locations where Hokulea and Hikianalia crew members will visit community members and students; and WHEREAS,the Richardson Ocean Center displays maps and photographs from the Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage; and • WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds to update the displays at the Richardson Ocean Center to enhance the facility's value as a community resource for education, discovery, and ocean sustainability; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to update the Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage interpretive displays at the Richardson Ocean Center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
