/V OF H <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ �'' '��• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> TE OF•MF.• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 240 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII LGBT <br /> LEGACY FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE HAWAII ISLAND PRIDE PARADE <br /> AND FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to support, empower, educate, unify, and facilitate lesbian, gay, <br /> bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations and individuals in Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawai`i Island Pride Parade and Festival, a project of the Hawai`i <br /> LGBT Legacy Foundation, was held on July 8, 2017, in Hilo; and • <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation had requested financial assistance <br /> for the Hawai`i Island Pride Parade and Festival, and since the event has concluded, funds will <br /> be used for the reimbursement of expenses for special-duty police officers, park and traffic <br /> permits, and sound system rentals; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island Pride Parade and Festival brought in numerous <br /> participants from across the island and State resulting in an increase in visitor spending at local <br /> restaurants, hotels, stores, and other businesses; and <br /> WHEREAS,this event falls within the goals of the Department of Research and <br /> Development to increase the economic contribution of the visitor industry and to increase <br /> communication, interaction, and understanding between organizations, residents, and visitors; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hawai`i LGBT Legacy Foundation to <br /> support the Hawai`i Island Pride Parade and Festival that was held in Hilo on July 8, 2017. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
