4°11 <br /> Y OF q�;' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -+_ �'' '/_*- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • art oF•N+.. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 251 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BASIC IMAGE,INC., <br /> FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL HONOLI`I PAKA ALOHA HONUA SURFING CLASSIC. <br /> WHEREAS, Basic Image, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that mentors youth <br /> by example and works together with the community to build positive relationships; and <br /> WHEREAS, Basic Image, Inc., partners with schools and other groups to maintain living <br /> classrooms at two of its adopted parks, Honoli`i Beach Park and Hakalau Bay; and <br /> WHEREAS, Basic Image, Inc., coordinated the 14th Annual Honoli`i Paka Aloha Honua <br /> Surfing Classic, a festival that took place on July 29, 2017, to celebrate the past year's <br /> accomplishments and to continue the public awareness and educational campaign designed to <br /> inform communities of the key role they play in protecting and preserving Hawai`i's parks and <br /> coastal regions; and <br /> WHEREAS, this festival included a service project, interactive booths, guest speakers, <br /> surf contest, a garden walk/tour, music, art, entertainment, ono food, and local culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, Basic Image, Inc., is requesting funds as a reimbursement for refreshments, <br /> t-shirts, outreach materials, awards, stickers, and other miscellaneous materials and supplies <br /> associated with the 14th Annual Honoli`i Paka Aloha Honua Surfing Classic; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Basic Image, Inc., for reimbursement of expenses <br /> associated with the 14th Annual Honoli`i Paka Aloha Honua Surfing Classic. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
