Yocy �,ddJr COUNTY OF HAWAII -{� �'— !��- STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 257 17 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KA HALE 0 NA KEIKI INC. FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS. WHEREAS, Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit preschool, believes that children learn by doing and observing, and that it would be beneficial and fun for its students to experience a hands-on learning adventure; and WHEREAS, the students of Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. are scheduled to embark on three field trips during this school year; and WHEREAS,the first field trip will be to Mokupapapa Discovery Center to learn about our ocean and its resources,then they will go to Richardson Ocean Center to see the exclusive exhibit hall on the history of Polynesian voyaging and Hokulea's recent worldwide voyage; and WHEREAS, on the second field trip, the children will get to experience dramatic play- and-learn at Kahilu Theatre in Kamuela, then continue on to visit the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company to learn how macadamia nuts are grown and processed in Hawai`i; and WHEREAS, the final field trip will take them to `Imiloa Astronomy Center where the children can watch a planetarium show and play with interactive exhibits to learn about the solar system, astronomy, and Hawaiian culture; and WHEREAS, Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. is requesting funds to help with its expenses for these three field trips, which will include transportation, admission fees, and lunches; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. for expenses associated with its educational field trips. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
