No. 386/Bill No. 60 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:22 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 60, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 60, transmitted jointly with Bill 59,by Mayor Harry Kim, via Communication No. 386, <br /> dated July 26, 2017, amends Section 25-8-22 (Puna District Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 <br /> (Zoning) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 edition, as amended), by changing the district <br /> classification from Agricultural—twenty acres (A-20a) to General Industrial—20,000 square feet <br /> (MG-20) at Kea'au, Puna, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 1-6-141:002 (Applicant: Hawai`i <br /> Island Distilling, LLC) (Area: 6.505 acres) <br /> The Windward Planning Commission forwarded its favorable recommendation for this change of <br /> zone, which would allow the applicant to establish a microbrewery with a retail sales and tasting <br /> center. <br /> Planning Consultant Mr. Sidney Fuke, representing the applicant, provided a brief background. <br /> Council Member Eileen O'Hara inquired as to whether improvements were going to be made <br /> within the project area, to which Mr. Fuke responded affirmatively. <br /> The vote was taken on the motion to approve Bill 60 and passed with eight ayes.
