J�tY Oi,,,,', <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -;_ �'- /�•� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • .:;•;41,,,,,,,, <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 265 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAIIAN <br /> SANCTUARY INC. TO ASSIST WITH COSTS RELATED TO ITS PLANT ALOHA <br /> PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaiian Sanctuary Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a 44-acre, <br /> eco-rejuvenation center dedicated to providing experiential education in the areas of health and <br /> wellness, social permaculture, leadership, sustainability, and personal and collective growth; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaiian Sanctuary Inc. has initiated a project called Plant Aloha, which <br /> provides a year-long series of free classes on sustainable farming systems, including <br /> permaculture, Korean Natural Farming, Jadam Organic Farming, and traditional Native <br /> Hawaiian cultural planting methods; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaiian Sanctuary Inc. is requesting funds to assist with consultant and <br /> lecturer fees to continue offering free sustainable farming classes; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Plant Aloha project falls within the Department of Research and <br /> Development's mission to facilitate leadership and education to communities that support and <br /> promote agricultural sustainability; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Hawaiian Sanctuary Inc. to assist with costs <br /> related to its Plant Aloha project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
