OF TN <br /> ^ \d;, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII �� �' /�•= STATE OF HAWAII <br /> STB OR MF' .= • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 273 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KUIKAHI <br /> MEDIATION CENTER FOR ITS PUNA HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION TRAINING <br /> AND MENTORING PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers <br /> mediation, facilitation, and training to strengthen individuals and groups to resolve conflicts and <br /> community issues; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center's Puna Homeowners Association Training and <br /> Mentoring Program provides needed facilitation skills to mitigate current and future conflicts and <br /> improve the performance and effectiveness of the associations; and <br /> WHEREAS,the objective of this program is to eliminate highly contentious meetings <br /> and reduce the high turnover rates of volunteers serving on association boards; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center will provide ten months of training for selected <br /> homeowner associations in Puna; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center is requesting funds to hire facilitators to attend <br /> homeowner association meetings to analyze the performance of the board members and provide <br /> guidance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Puna Homeowners Association Training and Mentoring Program falls <br /> within the Department of Research and Development's mission to facilitate leadership and <br /> education to communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Ku'ikahi Mediation Center for its Puna <br /> Homeowners Association Training and Mentoring Program. <br />
