;NtYOFN,-, <br /> l <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII --jA ' A ItSTATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 294 1/ <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SUCCESS <br /> FACTORY,INC. TO SUPPORT A 3-DAY CAMP FOR BIG ISLAND STUDENTS TO <br /> PARTICIPATE IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH <br /> PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES. <br /> WHEREAS, the Success Factory, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose <br /> objective is to advance interest and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math <br /> (STEM)by preparing Hawaii Island students to become the workforce for the innovation <br /> economy of the 21st century; and <br /> WHEREAS, on October 13-15, 2017, the Success Factory, Inc., dba NexTech will be <br /> hosting a 3-day camp at Kilauea Military Camp, which will feature activities that include <br /> national park explorations and a variety of STEM lessons relating to natural resources, cultural <br /> practices, and scientific research; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Success Factory, Inc., is requesting funds to support the curriculum of <br /> the NexTech 3-Day Camp; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol and drug free events <br /> that promote healthy lifestyles; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Success Factory, Inc., for a 3-day camp for Big Island <br /> students to participate in science,technology, engineering and math(STEM)programs and <br /> activities. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
