COUNTY OF HAWAII :I•fPz'- E�•= STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 296 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAII <br /> ISLAND FOR THE MASS VIOLENCE TRAINING SYMPOSIUM. <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i Crime Victim Compensation Commission and the <br /> County of Hawai`i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney are coordinating a Mass Violence Training <br /> Symposium that will be held on October 26-27, 2017, at the Kilauea Military Camp; and <br /> WHEREAS,the objective of the Mass Violence Training Symposium is to coordinate <br /> efforts and protocols in Hawai`i to prepare for and respond to terrorism and mass-violence <br /> crimes at the local, state, and federal levels; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is <br /> dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace,justice, freedom, <br /> and dignity for all; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island will be working with the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide services for victims and their families such as counseling, crisis <br /> intervention, and education; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island, along with other organizations, will be <br /> participating in the Mass Violence Training Symposium to develop a basic collaborative strategy <br /> that identifies and meets the needs of survivors and communities affected by mass-violence <br /> crimes; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island is requesting funds to assist with food, drinks, <br /> and snacks for the two-day symposium; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawai`i Island to assist with the Mass <br /> Violence Training Symposium. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
