�J�tYosH�;• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -44 - STATE OF HAWAII <br /> rE oF'Hr'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 298 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br /> UNITED WAY FOR THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES FOR ITS <br /> MARKETING INITIATIVE. <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawai`i Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW is committed to advancing the common good of all by focusing on <br /> community transformation in the areas of education, income, and health; and <br /> WHEREAS, every year, HIUW through its 54 health and human service programs <br /> reaches more than 75 percent of Hawai`i Island families and individuals; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW requests funds to assist with expenses related to its marketing <br /> initiative, comprising banners,newspaper advertisements about upcoming events, and 2,000 <br /> bumper stickers to raise awareness about the purpose of HIUW; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol-free and drug-free <br /> programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses for <br /> materials and supplies for its marketing initiative. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
