�tY OF M • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> .vri:# <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 306 1.7 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE COVO <br /> FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE 2017 FILIPINO-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH <br /> CELEBRATION AND BARRIO FIESTSA. <br /> WHEREAS, the Congress of Visayan Organizations Foundation (COVO) is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to organize and unify the Visayan organizations in <br /> Hawai`i to perpetuate the Visayan language and cultural traditions, and to assist in the <br /> educational, social, and economic advancement of all Visayan in the larger Hawai`i community; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2009, the 111th Congress passed House Resolution 780 to officially <br /> recognize October as Filipino-American History Month, which provides an opportunity for all <br /> people in the United States to appreciate and learn more about Filipino-Americans, their culture, <br /> and their historic contributions to the Nation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2017 Filipino-American Heritage Month(FARM) Celebration and <br /> Barrio Fiesta is scheduled for the month of October at the University of Hawai`i, Hilo campus; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the COVO Foundation is requesting funds for food and supplies for the <br /> Barrio Fiesta; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol and drug free events <br /> that promote healthy lifestyles; and <br /> ASpursuant to Section 2-139 a 2 A of the Hawai`i CountyCode, <br /> , <br /> ( )( )( ) <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the COVO Foundation to support the Filipino-American <br /> Heritage Month Celebration and Barrio Fiesta. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
