No. 443/Bill No. 67 PLACE: Council Chambers Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 9:07 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 67, reports as follows: Bill No. 67, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, via Communication No. 443, dated August 22, 2017, amends Ordinance No. 07-136, which reclassified lands from Single-Family Residential— 10,000 Square Feet(RS-10) to Industrial-Commercial Mixed—20,000 Square Feet (MCX-20) at Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 2-2-036:090. (Applicant: Rodney Tanaka) (Area: 22,500 Square Feet) Mayor Kim forwarded the Windward Planning Commission's favorable recommendation for this amendment, which would allow a five-year time extension to Condition C, time to complete construction. The project is located at the corner of the intersection of Lanikaula Street and Hinano Street, and provides for a 9,075 square foot building to be used as a warehouse space, an office, and a showroom. Deputy Planning Director Arai stated that the applicant, Rodney Tanaka, was present in the audience. He said that this rezoning was issued in 2007, with an administrative extension to complete the project issued in 2013. Mr. Arai then stated that the applicant secured plan approval and obtained a building permit for a warehouse structure, and that the Planning Commission issued a favorable recommendation for this request. Several Council Members commented with support. The vote was taken on the motion to approve and passed with nine"ayes."
