HAWAII <br /> FOR ITS 2018 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN WEST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that positively <br /> influences the children in our communities to make healthy life choices; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i offers a 10-week educational program for Hawai`i Island <br /> students in fifth through eighth grades; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i is coordinating its annual D.A.R.E. Day celebration in <br /> West Hawai`i to recognize the graduating students who complete the D.A.R.E. program; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i has requested funds to assist with purchasing T-shirts <br /> and food and renting an inflatable obstacle course, inflatable water slide, dunk tank, and <br /> climbing wall for students participating in the 2018 D.A.R.E. Day celebration in West Hawai`i; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth <br /> programs, such as D.A.R.E. Hawai`i,that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our <br /> youth how to make safe and responsible choices; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawai`i for its 2018 D.A.R.E. Day celebration in <br /> West Hawai`i. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
