RESOLUTION NO. 358 17 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII FOR ITS 2018 D.A.R.E. DAY EVENT IN WEST HAWAII. WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is committed to teaching elementary, middle, and high school students to make responsible decisions and to resist alcohol, drugs,tobacco, and violence to lead a safe and healthy life; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Day is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates students in fifth through eighth grades from Hawai`i Island schools that have completed the 10-session D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i will be hosting D.A.R.E. Day in May 2018 for West Hawai`i students; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i has requested funds to pay for supplies and refreshments for the 2018 D.A.R.E. Day event in West Hawai`i; and WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day event; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawai`i for its 2018 D.A.R.E. Day event in West Hawai`i. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
