IVOF 1,4 . <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 368 1' <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TAHITI <br /> FETE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION TO ASSIST WITH ITS <br /> KONA TAHITI FETE 2017 AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES. <br /> WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that strives to bring together the Hawaiian and Tahitian cultures by <br /> sharing lifestyles and memories to pass on to future generations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 is a festival that is open to all residents and <br /> visitors to promote the cultures of Hawai`i and Tahiti through dance, music, language, history, <br /> arts, crafts, and cuisine; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 will take place on November 1-4 at the <br /> Kekuaokalani Gymnasium and will be hosted by the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural <br /> Association and the TeMana Rose Tahitian School of Dance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association and the TeMana <br /> Rose Tahitian School of Dance will also be visiting students at various schools on October 30-31 <br /> and November 6-8, as well as conducting other special exchanges around Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association has requested <br /> funds for the reimbursement of ground transportation costs for its Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 and <br /> community outreach activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development's tourism program supports <br /> community festivals that promote Hawaiian culture and traditions, such as the Kona Tahiti Fete <br /> 2017; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural <br /> Association for its Kona Tahiti Fete 2017.and community outreach activities. <br />
