COUNTY OF HAWAIII47.''= '/�•- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ••+j iNTMOfi'�` i <br /> ,TEOFNw� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 385 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEALAKEHE HIGH <br /> SCHOOL GRAD FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2018 KEALAKEHE PROJECT <br /> GRAD EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is an alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free event that <br /> provides a safe, all-night celebration for graduating seniors from Kealakehe High School, West <br /> Hawai`i Explorations Academy, and qualifying home-schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School Grad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has <br /> coordinated the Kealakehe Project Grad event since its inception in 2001; and <br /> WHEREAS,the 2018 Kealakehe Project Grad event will take place at the Kekuaokalani <br /> Gymnasium, Kona Community Aquatic Center, and KBXtreme Family Entertainment Center, <br /> commencing at 9:00 p.m. on May 26 and concluding at 6:00 a.m. on May 27; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2018 Kealakehe Project Grad event is chaperoned by volunteer parents, <br /> teachers, lifeguards, and police officers to ensure the safety of participating students; and <br /> WHEREAS,Kealakehe High School Grad is requesting funds to help pay for meals, <br /> snacks, live entertainment, games,transportation, activities, memorabilia, and other expenses <br /> associated with the graduation-night celebration; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kealakehe High School Grad to assist with expenses <br /> relating to its 2018 Kealakehe Project Grad event. <br />
