Dr. Sumner-Mack is a retired college professor and a <br /> secondary school teacher. She holds a BA in English from Florida State University and <br /> an MA and a Ph.D. from Brown University. <br /> Prior to retirement, Dr. Sumner-Mack taught English and History courses at several <br /> universities and colleges and later taught secondary English in Pahoa and <br /> Laupahoehoe. Dr. Sumner-Mack is also a world traveler and has lived in different parts <br /> of the globe. She is an active member of our island community and has served as past <br /> president of the local AAUW (American Association of University Women), former chair <br /> of her local neighborhood watch, a consultant to the YWCA, and many more. She has <br /> resided in Hawai'i for over 17 years. <br /> Dr. Sumner-Mack states she is not affiliated with any political party.
