COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ..'.,�tf OF•N''M RESOLUTION NO. 396_396Lt7 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TAHITI FETE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION FOR ITS KONA TAHITI FETE 2017 FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association (KTFECA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to contribute to the enrichment of youth and young adults by enhancing their understanding of their cultural and ancestral heritage; and WHEREAS, on November 1-4 at the Kekuaokal"ani Gymnasium, KTFECA and the TeMana Rose Tahitian School of Dance hosted the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017, a festival to promote the cultural connections between Hawai`i and Tahiti through dance, music, art, language, and cuisine; and WHEREAS,the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 also featured, among other events, a kawa ceremony, a welcome reception, cultural exchanges within schools, special events, and cultural workshops, presentations, and demonstrations around Hawai`i Island; and WHEREAS, KTFECA requests a reimbursement of expenses for food, materials, and supplies for the cultural workshops, presentations, and demonstrations that were held in conjunction with the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017; and WHEREAS,the Kona Tahiti Fete falls within the Department of Parks and Recreation's culture and education program that promotes, perpetuates, and encourages activities and programs in culture, art, history, and the humanities; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association for a reimbursement of expenses relating to cultural workshops, presentations, and demonstrations during the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 festival. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
