tSVOFN . <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -;i .t�`, STATE OF HAWAII <br /> qTF CF•Ntl� . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 403 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH <br /> EXPENSES RELATED TO THE LITTLE FIRE ANT ID EVENT HELD AT THE WEST <br /> HAWAII CIVIC CENTER. <br /> WHEREAS, the Little Fire Ant (LFA) HUI is promoting LFA ID events to educate the <br /> community on how to immediately identify ant specimens suspected to be LFA; and <br /> WHEREAS, the LFA HUI is a citizen-based organization that coordinates the coalition <br /> of government,public and private agencies, and the community to create policies, programs, and <br /> events for public awareness, education, surveying, mapping, improved control, and eradication <br /> of LFA in Hawai`i County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to assist the people of the Big <br /> Island with becoming sustainable while caring for and appreciating the natural environment, as <br /> well as enriching our communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is a collaborative partner with the Big Island Invasive Species <br /> Committee and the Hawai`i Ant Lab, that supports LFA HUI's efforts to bring increased <br /> awareness of the danger of LFA and provide tools to those that are determined to reduce LFA <br /> populations; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to reimburse costs for advertising, supplies, <br /> and other expenses related to the LFA ID event that was held at the West Hawai`i Civic Center <br /> on October 21, 2017; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE.COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to BIRCDC to reimburse costs for advertising, <br /> supplies, and other expenses related to the LFA ID event held at the West Hawai`i Civic Center; <br /> now, therefore, <br />
