COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 1° <br /> ,T!CF•Mt•1� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 415 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br /> UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2017-2018 COMMUNITY <br /> OUTREACH INITIATIVE AND COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN WEST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way (HIUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build healthier communities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW is committed to building supportive communities that offer children <br /> and adults a range of educational and economic opportunities; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW supports various organizations and community partners that offer <br /> programming andservices through community meetings, media, and social networking; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting financial assistance with advertising expenses related <br /> to its 2017-2018 community outreach initiative, and to defray costs for tables, chairs, and <br /> equipment needed to hold community meetings in West Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote the health, safety, and the welfare of communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to financially assist with <br /> expenses associated with its 2017-2018 community outreach initiative and community meetings <br /> in West Hawai`i. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
