COUNTY OF HAWAII • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> AT.................... <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 438 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY <br /> DONATION OF $500 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION. <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Christine Johnson is donating$500 to the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation; and <br /> WHEREAS, these funds will be used to assist with expenses relating to the Pilikulaiwi <br /> intersession program; and <br /> WHEREAS, Pilikulaiwi is a multi-day program administered by the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation through its Recreation Division that provides culturally appropriate <br /> activities and service projects to school-age children during the spring and fall intersessions to <br /> demonstrate the importance of malama honua through hands-on work; and <br /> WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter provides that <br /> the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other <br /> personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section <br /> 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), states that any gifts or <br /> donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization <br /> procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the <br /> Council; and <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this <br /> donation; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter, and Chapter 2, <br /> Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the <br /> Council of the County of Hawai`i accepts this donation. <br /> L <br />
