STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •. 7T• OF•NP4► . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 451 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH <br /> SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE 2018 WAIAKEA <br /> HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT GRAD NIGHT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Parent Teacher Student Association(PTSA) is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists Waiakea High School with programs and activities <br /> that benefit the students that attend Waiakea High School, including the Waiakea High School <br /> Project Grad Night; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Project Grad Night provides a safe, secure, and <br /> supervised celebration alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve underage <br /> drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late-night partying that normally results in <br /> drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, this alcohol- and drug-free event provides the parents and families of the <br /> graduates with the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment after <br /> graduation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School PTSA is requesting funds to defray the cost of <br /> facility rental, lifeguards, and food; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth <br /> programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free events, including Project Grad Night activities; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds.from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waiakea High School Parent Teacher Student <br /> Association for the 2018 Waiakea High School Project Grad Night. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
