• COUNTY OF HAWAII ��•- • STATE OF HAWAII it r„_::�rte` RESOLUTION NO. 4S4 �.� A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI PONO HOLOHOLONA FOR ITS ANIMAL BALANCE PROGRAM. organization whose mission WHEREAS, Hui Pono Holoholona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit 3 is to humanely stop animal overpopulation through animal sterilization and education on proper animal care and ownership; and WHEREAS, Animal Balance is a global nonprofit dedicated to creating positive change on islands around the world, including Hawai`i Island, by partnering with local organizations to create population management programs for dogs and cats; and WHEREAS, Hui Pono Holoholona has an established Animal Balance Program for trapping, neutering, returning, and managing feral cats through its spay/neuter clinics; and WHEREAS, Hui Pono Holoholona is requesting funds to purchase microchips, flea medicine, and cat food to continue its Animal Balance Program; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports community building in collaboration with organizations focused on health and environmental priorities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hui Pono Holoholona for its Animal Balance Program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: •
