• <br /> ��tY OF N,• ''I• <br /> • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •� �'- ��«- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,,., ,.;.�rE OFMF'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 468 '113 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA <br /> HARVEST, INC.,FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE EXPANSION OF ITS KEIKI <br /> LEARNING GARDEN. <br /> WHEREAS, Hamakua Harvest, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions <br /> a thriving and resilient Hamakua community where the rich agricultural heritage is honored and <br /> cultivated into a collaborative and sustainable future; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2015, Hamakua Harvest, Inc., initiated the Keiki Learning Garden, an <br /> "outdoor classroom"that is a hands-on, youth development and education program designed to <br /> teach agriculture, food production, and sustainable land management; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hamakua Harvest, Inc.,would like to expand its Keiki Learning Garden in <br /> both size and scope and is requesting funds to pay for instructors and garden supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Research and Development's goals is to support <br /> programs and organizations that support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting <br /> educational opportunities designed to build skills and capacity in the farm community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Hamakua Harvest, Inc.,to assist with expenses <br /> relating to the expansion of its Keiki Learning Garden. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
