No. 653 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:09 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 653, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 653, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 14, 2017, <br /> nominates Mr. John R. Replogle of the Ka`u District to the Hawai`i County Windward Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Mr. Replogle who appeared in <br /> person. Mr. Replogle is a registered Democrat who was born and raised on Hawai`i Island and, <br /> if confirmed, will serve a term ending December 31, 2021. <br /> Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Replogle's nomination. The vote was then <br /> taken with seven Council Members voting"aye." Chair Eoff stated that Mr. Replogle didnot <br /> need to appear at the Council meeting on January 24, 2018, for confirmation of his appointment. <br /> Pursuant to Section 6-7.3 of the Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Windward Planning <br /> Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br /> Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication <br /> No. 653, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of John R.
