JMtYOFN,�7 . <br /> 4C•(L �•, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII ;*: �'' %:� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ;,,A4o;N��*`` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 483 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE <br /> STEALTH CAMERAS FOR PLACEMENT IN AREAS PRONE TO CRIMINAL <br /> ACTIVITY IN THE DISTRICT OF PUNA. <br /> WHEREAS, according to the Hawai`i Police Department, Annual Report Fiscal Year <br /> 2015-2016, the district of Puna has a land mass larger than the entire island of O`ahu and is <br /> served by only 5.1 patrol officers, six sergeants, one lieutenant, and one captain that are stationed <br /> at the Pahoa Police Station and the Kea'au Substation; and <br /> WHEREAS,the district of Puna is predominantly rural, and with so much area to cover <br /> and limited manpower and resources, patrol officers in the district must take full advantage of <br /> ingenuity, technology, and the environment to deter, detect, and investigate crime and criminal <br /> activity; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department would like to purchase stealth cameras that can be <br /> mounted on trees, buildings, or other objects to provide surveillance of outdoor area that are <br /> suspected or known to be "hot spots" for criminal activity and can be relocated as needed; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Police Department <br /> for the purchase of stealth cameras to be placed in areas prone to criminal activity in the district <br /> of Puna. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
