REQUEST: <br /> We are requesting that the county accept $3,000 for the Prosecutor's office to utilize for the disposition <br /> research and documentation project. We request the Council's permission to accept the $3,000 Federal <br /> funds passed through the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center, at the State of Hawaii, Deprtment of the <br /> Attorney General. They will reimburse the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) $3,000 for costs for <br /> overtime incurred by OPA staff while they research charges identified by the HCJDC with overdue <br /> dispositions. <br /> We are requesting to use Revenue account 3309.39 and Expenditure account 010.271.5272.03.021 <br /> We request to amend Ordinance 17-39 as amended, the Operating Budget for The County of Hawaii for <br /> the fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2018 <br /> We are requesting the waiving of further reading so as to expedite this process as time is an issue for this <br /> project. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> Currently there remains cases in the State data bank that have no disposition. There are many reasons that <br /> the cases were not finalized. The Hawaii Criminal Data Justice Center is requesting our assistance in <br /> researching the cases that have no disposition and report to them what the findings are. We have estimated <br /> the amount of time it would take to research and document the findings. <br /> The Hawaii Criminal Data Justice Center, which is part of the Attorney General's office, which is part of the <br /> State, is now willing to pay the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, towards the overtime costs, up to $3,000 <br /> to work on this project. <br /> SIGNED: w1 (1Mt\J DATE: I � ) <br /> c <br />
