REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> DATE: February 21, 2018 Re: Comm.No. 749 <br /> PLACE: Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:28 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication <br /> No. 749, reports as follows: <br /> Communication 749, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated January 31, 2018, nominates <br /> Scott Ancheta of Council District 6 to the Transportation Commission. Mr. Ancheta has worked in the <br /> high-tech industry for approximately 17 years and is currently employed as a Vice President of Business <br /> Development at Dimension Data, an international company specializing in Information Technology. He <br /> previously worked at CISCO Systems, Inc., where he did extensive work on Smart Cities, traffic <br /> management and self-driving transportation systems. <br /> Mr. Ancheta holds a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from the University of Michigan and <br /> an Executive Master in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania-The Wharton <br /> School. Mr. Ancheta and his family relocated to the Big Island from Texas about a year ago. <br /> Mr. Ancheta is a registered Democrat. If confirmed, he will serve a term ending December 31, 2022. <br /> Mr. Ancheta was present in the Kailua-Kona Council Chambers and several Council Members <br /> welcomed the technological skills he brings to the commission.
