REQUEST: <br /> We request to amend Ordinance 17-39, The.2017-2018 Operating Budget to increase the Budget in the <br /> Housing Fund as follows: <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development is requesting the appropriation of $ 75,000.00 to the <br /> Housing Choice Voucher Program (Account/Number 152.3301.54). This amount represent a projected <br /> increase in revenues from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to be use for <br /> Housing Assistance Payment subsidies, and is to cover the expenditures account number <br /> 152.461.5466.30.371, Voucher rental subsidies. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> On February 22, 2018, the County of Hawai'i (County) was informed that HUD in collaboration with the <br /> Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA), V21/Pacific Islands HCS Facility, approved the County to receive an <br /> allocation of twenty-five (25) Fiscal Year 2017 HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers. <br /> After the processing of the County's application, HUD will issued a formal, public Press Release for all FY17 <br /> HUD VASH awardees. HUD will send the County an award letter via email and a Consolidated Annual <br /> Contributions Contract (CACC) Amendment. <br /> The County anticipates that the HUD-VASH vouchers and funding will become available sometime in April <br /> 2018. <br /> The increase in appropriation reflects the updated allocation to be received from the U.S. Department of Housing <br /> and Urban Development for the period July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 for the Housing Choice Voucher HCV <br /> (Section 8 program). The $ 75,000.00 is to be used for payment of rental assistance for eligible participants <br /> in the program.
