REQUEST: <br /> A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement to accept grant funds for the FBI Child <br /> Exploitation Task Force Project. <br /> We are requesting that the county accept up to $24,000 for the Prosecutor's Office to utilize for the FBI Child <br /> Exploitation,Task Force (CETF) project. We request the Council's permission to accept the $24,000 Federal <br /> funds from theFBI managed by the FBI Honolulu Field Office. They will reimburse the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) up to $24,000 for costs for Sorftware Licneses, Hard Disk Drives, Thumb Drives <br /> and Overtime incurred by OPA staff while they asssit in investigative work. <br /> We are requesting a bill for an ordinance to accept $24,000 for the FBI CETF Project. This would include <br /> amending the budget to appropriate the funds to the project and creating a general ledger account and <br /> revenue account for the funds. <br /> We request to amend Ordinance 17-39 as amended, the Operating Budget for The County of Hawaii for <br /> the fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2018 <br /> We are requesting the waiving of further reading so as to expedite this process as time is an issue for this <br /> project. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Prosecutors Office works in collaboration with the FBI through the Child Exploitation Task Force to <br /> provide a rapid, proactive and intelligence-driven investigative response to the sexual victimization of <br /> children and other crimes against children within the FBI's jurisdiction: to identify and rescue child victims; to <br /> reduce the vulnerability of children to sexual exploitation and abuse; to reduce the negative impact of <br /> domestic and international parental rights disputes; and to strengthen the capabilities of the FBI and federal, <br /> state, local and international law enforcement through training, intelligence-sharing, technical support, and <br /> investigative assistance. . <br /> The FBI is willing to reimburse the county up to $24,000 to The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for these <br /> activities. <br /> \SLILAPVII) <br /> SIGNED: ba, NSU, M211/ZDATE: 3 l t b <br /> �. <br /> Department Head <br />
