JoY If p, ' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -{f4,-'-� '/_.- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . ...1.1.t..--r.ri,;.-1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 538 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LALAKEA <br /> FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH ITS KA `AHA HULA '0 HALAUAOLA 2018 <br /> CONFERENCE. <br /> WHEREAS, Lalakea Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is <br /> to perpetuate the ancient art form of hula and other traditional cultural practices; and <br /> WHEREAS, Lalakea Foundation is coordinating Ka 'Aha Hula '0 Halauaola 2018, <br /> which is a learning and enrichment conference for hula practitioners and cultural learners from <br /> Hawai`i and around the world; and <br /> WHEREAS, Lalakea Foundation is expecting about 1,200 participants to attend the Ka <br /> 'Aha Hula '0 Halauaola 2018 conference on Hawai`i Island, which will be held from June 14 <br /> through June 23; and <br /> WHEREAS, Lalakea Foundation is requesting funds for advertising and transportation <br /> for the participants of the Ka'Aha Hula '0 Halauaola 2018 conference; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs and <br /> community initiatives that promote and share the Native Hawaiian culture and history with <br /> Hawai`i Island residents and visitors; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Lalakea Foundation to assist with transportation <br /> and advertising expenses for the Ka 'Aha Hula '0 Halauaola 2018 conference. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br /> P' <br />
