COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 540 IS A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO HAMAKUA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR THE KAIWIKI COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT. WHEREAS, the Hilo Hamakua Community Development Corporation (HHCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist in creating opportunities that preserve our environment, sustain our families, and improve the quality of life; and WHEREAS, HHCDC is collaborating with the Kaiwiki Community Association to conduct a health and wellness event on April 22, 2018, at Kaiwiki Park; and WHEREAS, the Kaiwiki Community Health and Wellness event will have informational booths on health education, demonstrations, entertainment, food, and fun activities that promote physical fitness; and WHEREAS, HHCDC is requesting funds to help with advertising, entertainment (music, jumpers, and keiki games), equipment and supplies (tents, tables, and chairs), food, drinks, paper goods, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with the event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports events that provide the public with safe and enjoyable activities that promote good health and physical fitness; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to HHCDC for expenses associated with the Kaiwiki Community Health and Wellness event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
