OF <br />y,�1 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII is _* STATE OF HAWAII <br />,Tf OF•NF'� <br />BILL NO. 125 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE NAMING A COUNTY PARK WITHIN ALI`I KAI SUBDIVISION, <br />SITUATED AT TAX MAP KEY NO. (3)7-6-19:034, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 15, <br />ARTICLE 8, SECTION 15-68.1 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 <br />EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO THE PARKS AND RECREATIONAL <br />FACILITY SCHEDULE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br />SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to officially name the County <br />park situated at tax map key no. (3)7-6-019:034, within Alii Kai Subdivision, pursuant to <br />chapter 15, article 8, section 15-68, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), <br />which provides that all County parks and recreational facilities shall be named by ordinance and <br />included in the parks and recreational facilities schedule, codified as section 15-68.1. <br />Alii Kai, Inc., donated this real property to the County of Hawaii on December 3, 1997, <br />via Resolution No. 178-97 for the purpose of developing a park. The park was developed and <br />opened for public use on May 12, 2016. <br />Section 15-67(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), <br />provides that a park may be "named for its neighborhood, community, region, district or other <br />identifying geographical location." <br />"Ah' i Kai Park" is the name that has been historically accepted and geographically <br />identifies the location where this park is located. <br />The area dedicated to and accepted by the County of Hawaii in Resolution No. 178-97, <br />is hereby named "Ah' i Kai Park". <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 15, article 8, section 15-68.1 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended), the parks and recreational facility schedule, is amended by adding a <br />new park listing to the "Kona" section to be appropriately inserted and to read as follows: <br />"Ali`i Kai Park" <br />SECTION 3. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring <br />need not be included. <br />
