JNtYOFH;t' <br /> ` STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII �.f .-'-'�•-��'�/i• � ` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 54618 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE GRASSROOTS <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP TO SUPPORT THE FOREST ROOTS II <br /> FAMILY EDUCATION DAY AND HUNTING TOURNAMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose purpose is to support individuals and groups that provide programs, <br /> activities, events,projects, educational workshops, etc., that benefit the public and are free of <br /> charge; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group will be partnering with the <br /> Bodacious Ladies of Puna, the Nanawale Community Association, the University of Hawai`i <br /> Cooperative Extension Service, and the Hawai`i State Division of Forestry and Wildlife to host <br /> the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament on Saturday, June 16, 2018, <br /> to promote awareness about Rapid `Ohi`a Death (ROD) and the fungus that causes it; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament will <br /> include activities and contests for families, the hunting tournament, casting contest, forest <br /> education, demonstrations, and ocean activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, this event falls within the Department of Research and Development's <br /> mission to facilitate and support the sustainability of our island's communities through <br /> community-based collaborations and capacity building services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds to <br /> defray costs related to hosting the event including; facility rental, decontamination kits, supplies <br /> for keiki activities, bouncy slide, banners, refreshments, prizes for the hunting tournament, and <br /> production of a video of the event; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Grassroots Community Development Group <br /> for the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament. <br />
