JNtYOFH;t' ` STATE OF HAWAI I COUNTY OF HAWAII �.f .-'-'�•-��'�/i• � ` RESOLUTION NO. 54618 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP TO SUPPORT THE FOREST ROOTS II FAMILY EDUCATION DAY AND HUNTING TOURNAMENT. WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to support individuals and groups that provide programs, activities, events,projects, educational workshops, etc., that benefit the public and are free of charge; and WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group will be partnering with the Bodacious Ladies of Puna, the Nanawale Community Association, the University of Hawai`i Cooperative Extension Service, and the Hawai`i State Division of Forestry and Wildlife to host the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament on Saturday, June 16, 2018, to promote awareness about Rapid `Ohi`a Death (ROD) and the fungus that causes it; and WHEREAS, the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament will include activities and contests for families, the hunting tournament, casting contest, forest education, demonstrations, and ocean activities; and WHEREAS, this event falls within the Department of Research and Development's mission to facilitate and support the sustainability of our island's communities through community-based collaborations and capacity building services; and WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds to defray costs related to hosting the event including; facility rental, decontamination kits, supplies for keiki activities, bouncy slide, banners, refreshments, prizes for the hunting tournament, and production of a video of the event; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Grassroots Community Development Group for the Forest Roots II Family Education Day and Hunting Tournament.
