STATE OF HAWAII <br /> **F.* <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 569 <br /> 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO HAMAKUA <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR THE PEPE`EKEO <br /> SUGARCANE FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hilo Hamakua Community Development Corporation (HHCDC) is a <br /> 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist in creating opportunities that preserve <br /> our environment, sustain our families, and improve the quality of life; and <br /> WHEREAS, HHCDC is collaborating with the Pepe`ekeo Community Association to <br /> organize the first Pepeekeo Sugarcane Festival on Saturday, July 15, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to <br /> 3:00 p.m., at the Kula`imano Community Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, the festival will honor the sugarcane plant and the plantation lifestyle, <br /> bringing residents together to celebrate the health of their community by reminiscing on the past, <br /> sharing in the present, and envisioning the future; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pepeekeo Sugarcane Festival will include entertainment, inflatable <br /> keiki rides, food, sugarcane juice sampling, and a variety of informational tables hosted by <br /> educational, environmental, and healthcare organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS, HHCDC is requesting funds to help with advertising, entertainment (music <br /> and inflatables), equipment and supplies (tent, popcorn machine, and a shave ice machine), food, <br /> drinks, paper goods, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with the event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community outreach as it <br /> falls within its Culture and Education program to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities <br /> and programs in culture, art,history, and humanities; and <br /> A pursuant to Section 2-139 a 2 A of the Hawaii County <br /> WHEREAS, Code, <br /> � � )� )( ) <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to HHCDC for expenses associated with the Pepeekeo <br /> Sugarcane Festival. <br />
