COUNTY OF HAWAII '(6''- /l• STATE OF HAWAII ,qTE OF�Nt./1 RESOLUTION NO. 572 18 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII ISLAND HIV/AIDS FOUNDATION FOR HIV AND HEPATITIS C TESTING KITS. WHEREAS, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), an infection that attacks the human immune system; and WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation(HIHAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those affected by HIV/AIDS to maximize their quality of life and to ending the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C (HEP C); and WHEREAS, HIHAF is the only HIV/AIDS service organization available on Hawai`i Island, providing services to approximately 260 HIV clients; and WHEREAS, HIHAF offers free testing in the community throughout Hawai`i Island and is requesting financial assistance for HIV and HEP C test kits, alcohol pads, bandages, and finger lancets; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to honorably meet the economic development needs, priorities, and values of the communities; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organizationand the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to HIHAF for expenses related to HIV and HEP C testing kits. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the Countyof Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
