COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . �rF cF•Hr.�__ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 58S 1 s <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAHUA PA'A MUA, <br /> INC., TO SUPPORT THE BIG ISLAND CHAPTERS OF THE FUTURE FARMERS OF <br /> AMERICA BY PROVIDING FIVE YEAR-END BANQUETS FOR ITS PARTICIPANTS. <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to enhance communities through economic, conservation, preservation, social, and educational <br /> programs for youth and adults with a focus on agriculture; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., spearheaded a strategic planning session in August <br /> 2016 for all existing Big Island Chapters of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), which <br /> enhanced the interest of our high school students to look at agriculture as future careers; and <br /> WHEREAS,Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., will be hosting five separate year-end banquets for <br /> existing Big Island Chapters of the FFA to showcase the multitude of accomplishments of FFA <br /> participants, including winning multiple State FFA competitions; and <br /> WHEREAS, these banquets will also feature the installation of officers for the 2018-19 <br /> school year and a recruitment of new chapter members; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., is requesting financial assistance for the rental fee of <br /> the facilities, decorations, tables, chairs, stage, AV equipment, refreshments, commendations, <br /> recognition plaques, FFA proficiency awards of achievements, and lei; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs that <br /> facilitate the sustainability of Hawai`i Island communities through community based <br /> collaboration; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency.Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., to assist the Big Island <br /> Chapters of the Future Farmers of America. <br />
