STATE OF HAWAII <br /> E OF N' <br /> RESOLUTION NO.. 603 18 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO <br /> ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL <br /> SPACE CENTER FOR EXPLORATION SYSTEMS <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to enter <br /> into an agreement with Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems <br /> (PISCES) to provide a one-year extension to an.agreement to provide funding for <br /> its MoonRIDERS (Research Investigating Dust Expulsion Removal Systems) <br /> Lunar Surface Flight Experiment project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the agreement is to provide a one-year extension to an <br /> agreement entered on November 25 2015 with PISCES. The original agreement, <br /> which expires on.June 30, 2018, was to.provide $25,000 tocomplete the <br /> engineering cost of integrating the student flight experiment in to a lunar space <br /> craft and for travel expenses for students and mentors of Kealekehe.High School <br /> to participate in spacecraft integration activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the <br /> federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the <br /> powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers; now, therefore, <br />
