COUNTY OF HAWAI'ISTATE OF HAWAII • ,rF pF. - • RESOLUTION NO. 606 18 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY TO EXPAND EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 9. WHEREAS,the Hawai`i County's Civil Defense Agency directs and coordinates the development and administration of the County's total emergency preparedness and response program to ensure prompt and effective action when a natural or man-caused disaster threatens or occurs anywhere in the County; and WHEREAS, there are four Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) in Council District 9 that are prepared to assess damage after a disaster, provide first aid where needed, and collaborate with other government and non-government agencies involved in emergency preparedness to provide reliable information to the public when a disaster threatens or strikes; and WHEREAS, having additional telecommunications equipment is critical for the Civil Defense Agency to communicate to CERT volunteers in Council District 9 for prevention, protection, response, and recovery efforts; and WHEREAS, the Civil Defense Agency is requesting funds to purchase two repeaters/duplexers, supporting programming software and cables, antennas,power supplies, radio microwave links, coax cables, and other related installation equipment for the emergency preparedness and response program for Council District 9; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Civil Defense Agency to expand emergency communications in Council District 9. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
