No. 904 <br /> PLACE: Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:04 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication No. 904, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Communication 904,transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 20, 2018, nominates <br /> James William Weatherford of Council District 4 to the Transportation Commission. <br /> Prior to his retirement, Mr. Weatherford worked at senior policy level for a large mass transit agency <br /> located in Adelaide, South Australia. This experience helped give him an understanding of <br /> transportation issues. Mr. Weatherford holds a doctorate degree in Agricultural Economics from the <br /> University of Tennessee. <br /> Mr. Weatherford has a list of community service, which includes previous terms on the Puna <br /> Community Development Plan and the Puna Community Regional Circulation <br /> Plan. <br /> Mr. Weatherford indicates that he is a member of the Democratic Party. If confirmed,he will serve a <br /> full term to expire December 31, 2022. He appeared before the Council via video feed from the Pahoa <br /> Council Office. Many Council Members spoke highly of his qualifications and commitment to the <br /> community.
