G37 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING NOMINEE RIM HOKAMA TO THE WESTERN <br /> INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE TERM BEGINNING <br /> JULY 1, 2018,AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2019. <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawai`i State Association of Counties (HSAC) is comprised of <br /> members of the four County Councils of the State of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, as members of HSAC, all four County Councils are also members of the <br /> National Association of Counties (NACo), an organization comprised of 3,069 member counties <br /> across the nation, and members of the Western Interstate Region (WIR), a NACo caucus <br /> comprised of the state association of counties in 15 member-states designated within the western <br /> region of the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5C of the HSAC Bylaws states that Hawai`i is allowed two <br /> members to serve on the WIR Board of Directors who are elected officials from a NACo <br /> member county within the State of Hawai`i, and are nominated by the HSAC Executive <br /> Committee, and approved by the individual Councils; and <br /> WHEREAS, at its meeting on July 12, 2018, the HSAC Executive Committee accepted <br /> Maui County Council Member Mike White's resignation as the WIR representative, and <br /> approved the nomination of Maui County Council Member Riki Hokama to serve as HSAC's <br /> WIR representative for the term beginning July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS, the HSAC Bylaws require that each Council act on the proposed <br /> nomination for WIR Directors; now, therefore, <br />
