REQUEST: <br /> This is a request to enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Ofice of Justice Programs, <br /> for the purpose of purchasing a driving simulator to increase training techiques and exposure in a safe <br /> environment. <br /> Please create an ordinace to appropirate $113,387. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Hawaii County Police Department will receive support in the form of grant funding from the U.S. <br /> Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, which funds will be used to procure a driving simulator <br /> which will be used by departmental personnel as part of the department's driver training program. This will <br /> be used as a supplementary training technique in addition to the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course <br /> (EVOC). This equipment will also be used to provide remedial training oppoutunities to employees who are <br /> involved in traffic collisions in hopes of reducing recurrences.
