Young, Jr. and the entering into an intergovernmental agreement <br /> Pursuant to Section 6-5.5 of the Hawai`i County Charter(2014), the Office of the <br /> Corporation Counsel respectfully requests the Council place the above matter on its agenda for <br /> the purpose of hiring special counsel to assist our office with this case. We are also requesting to <br /> be put on the agenda, the ability to enter into an intergovernmental agreement pursuant to <br /> Hawai`i Revised Statutes § 46-7. <br /> Time is of the essence since the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued its decision on <br /> July 24, 2018 and the deadline to file a petition for en bane hearing is currently September 14, <br /> 2018.' The preparation of the petition for an en bane hearing will require substantial time and <br /> effort and therefore, it is important to retain special counsel as soon as possible. <br /> We kindly ask that this case be placed on the September 5, 2018 council agenda.
