COUNTY OF HAWAII •j;_ �-S-Y •_ ' STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 670 /8 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII <br /> VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC., <br /> TO PURCHASE A MEMORIAL STONE FOR THE SCATTERING GARDEN AT THE <br /> WEST HAWAII VETERANS CEMETERY-PU`U HO`OMAHA 0 NA POT KOA 0 <br /> HAWAII KOMOHANA. <br /> WHEREAS,the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion <br /> Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran <br /> organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated countless <br /> projects that honor our veterans at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na <br /> Po`e Koa 0 Hawai`i Komohana(WHVC); and <br /> WHEREAS, the WHVC has a Scattering Garden where ashes may be scattered upon it, <br /> serving as a peaceful place for loved ones to visit; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested financial assistance to purchase a memorial <br /> stone that will be adorned with individual name plates that identify, memorialize, and honor <br /> armed services personnel and their families who wish to have their ashes dispersed in the <br /> Scattering Garden at the WHVC; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to purchase a memorial stone for the <br /> Scattering Garden at West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0 <br /> Hawai`i Komohana. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
