N,�, COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII ,F OF MO' RESOLUTION NO. 671 18 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC., TO PURCHASE A MEMORIAL STONE FOR THE SCATTERING GARDEN AT THE WEST HAWAII VETERANS CEMETERY-PU`U HO`OMAHA 0 NA POT KOA 0 HAWAII KOMOHANA. WHEREAS,the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated countless projects at the County's West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0 Hawai`i Komohana(WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and WHEREAS,there is a Scattering Garden at the WHVC where families can gather in a peaceful resting place and scatter the ashes of their loved ones; and WHEREAS, WHVCDEA is requesting funds to purchase a memorial stone containing individual name plates that identify, memorialize, and honor armed service personnel and their families wishing to have their loved ones ashes scattered in the Scattering Garden at WHVC; and WHEREAS, the Veterans Administration (VA) designated WHVC as one of only three State-owned veterans' cemeteries in the nation to have received the honor"Shrine Status"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to purchase a memorial stone for the Scattering Garden at WHVC.
