COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAI `I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 706 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 TO <br />ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE 10TH PRINCE KUHIO <br />HO`OLAULE`A FESTIVAL. <br />WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that identifies <br />community needs, fosters the creation of community facilities, and coordinates planning with <br />service providers and partners for a variety of programs for residents of the Villages of <br />La`i`Opua and the broader Kealakehe area; and <br />WHEREAS, the 10th Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a Festival is scheduled to take place on <br />March 23, 2019, to provide the kama` aina and malihini attendees with a unique opportunity to <br />learn, experience, and in some cases, actual hands-on participation in the areas of. health <br />awareness and choices, community based business and service providers, educational and career <br />choices, various Hawaiian cultural disciplines and music; and <br />WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is requesting funds to assist with expenses for the <br />community keiki bouncers, advertising, and honorariums for special guests; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug- <br />free and alcohol -free events for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses associated with the 10th Prince <br />Kuhio Ho`olaule`a Festival. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
