COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 712 1 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII ISLAND <br />CULTURAL AWARENESS PROJECT FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />AND SANITATION EXPENSES FROM THE 25TH ANNUAL KWXX HO`OLAULE`A. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Cultural Awareness Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose mission is to perpetuate culture through media awareness, offering an <br />interactive platform that connects people, resources, events, public safety,. education, and other <br />charitable venues; and <br />WHEREAS, the 25th Annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a was held in Downtown Hilo on <br />September 29, 2018, and was a drug-free, alcohol -free, family -friendly, community event that <br />was free to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, partnering with KWXX FM in support of the 25th Annual KWXX <br />Ho`olaule`a allows the Hawaii Island Cultural Awareness Project to educate and build <br />awareness of the culture and history of Hawaii Island to tourists and residents through the <br />promotion of local musicians; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Cultural Awareness Project is requesting a <br />reimbursement of expenses to defray the cost of providing police protection, security, medical <br />assistance, traffic safety signage and equipment, sanitation, and post -event cleanup; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs that provide <br />educational activities and community events in a drug-free and alcohol -free environment to <br />promote the health, safety, and welfare of the general public; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor <br />Control to provide a grant to the Hawaii Island Cultural Awareness Project for the reimbursement <br />of expenses associated with public safety and sanitation at the 25th Annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a <br />that occurred on September 29, 2018. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
