COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 719 IS <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ANEKONA OULI <br />KANEHOA VFD COMPANY FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE FINAL <br />PHASE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A GARAGE FOR THE 9 -BRAVO <br />VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IN WAIKOLOA. <br />WHEREAS, Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company (AOK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that represents the volunteer firefighters who provide critical support to the Hawaii <br />Fire Department when responding to emergencies; and <br />WHEREAS, AOK supports 9 -Bravo, a volunteer fire company located in Waikoloa that <br />is trained and certified to assist the Hawaii Fire Department during emergencies; and <br />WHEREAS, 9 -Bravo is in need of a garage for the storage of firefighting equipment, <br />vehicles, and fire -related supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, AOK is requesting funds to be used toward the final phase of construction <br />of a 2,000 -square -foot garage for the 9 -Bravo volunteer fire company located in Waikoloa; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department provides programs and activities that promote <br />the safety, health, and quality of life of residents, and it strongly supports the volunteer fire <br />companies that help to provide quick and efficient responses to fire emergencies; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire <br />Department to provide a grant to Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company for expenses associated <br />with the final phase of the construction of a 2,000 -square -foot garage for the 9 -Bravo volunteer <br />fire company in Waikoloa. <br />
