Jq-4 OF II,'1 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAPI <br />,tf GP•M'J+ 1' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 724 1-8 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA <br />PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION FOR TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES RELATING <br />TO THE RESCUE FOOD PROGRAM IN WAIMEA. <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that serves the community by preserving the character, culture, and history of Waimea; and <br />WHEREAS, the Rescue Food Program is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing <br />free, quality prepared food to those in need to create a healthier and safer community in Waimea; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Rescue Food Program collects quality donated food that would <br />otherwise be disposed of by stores and restaurants, and this program is backed by the federal Bill <br />Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act of 1996 and the Hawaii Good Samaritan <br />Donation of Food Act (Chapter 145D, Hawaii Revised Statutes), which protects the donor and <br />the distributing organization from liability; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is committed to working with the <br />Rescue Food Program in its efforts to share resources, improve the quality of life, and influence <br />the future and character of Waimea through this needed program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is requesting funds for transportation <br />expenses to continue the efforts of the Rescue Food Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and alcohol -free <br />and drug-free programs that focus on the health and wellness of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waimea Preservation Association for transportation <br />expenses relating to the Rescue Food Program in Waimea. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
